Tutorial Assets
The following assets were used in the creation of this 2012 wallpaper.
* Font
Step 1
Create a new document with Width 1400px and Height 1200px.
Step 2
Create a new layer, select the ‘type tool’ to type the text. We’ll use ‘Berlin Sans FB Demi’ font, 242pt font size in this tutorial.
Step 3
Click on this ‘text layer’ and go to Layer > Rasterize > Type. Now go to Edit > Transform > Distort to arrange it as displayed below.
Step 4
Now to give text some character, go to Layer > Layer style > Blending options and use the given settings.
Step 5
Next, we’ll create a new layer, pick the ‘brush tool’ and set # dadada color. Select one of the ribbon brushes and apply it on this layer. Press Ctrl+ T to activate ‘free transform tool’ and rotate or resize the shape with it to place it just below the text as shown below.
Apply ribbon brush one more time on a new layer and arrange this shape as shown below almost at right angle to the first shape.
Step 6
Now we’ll create few ribbons. Create a new layer, select the ‘Pen tool’ and click on the ‘shape layers’ option from the top options bar and draw the ribbon as shown below.
Create a new layer and draw the second ribbon in the same way using ‘pen tool’.
Draw few more as displayed below.
Step 7
Click on the green ribbon layer and hide the other ribbons. After that, rasterize this layer. Select the ‘eraser tool’ and nicely erase ribbon at some points on the text to give the appearance that ribbon is passing through the text.
Step 8
Repeat the same process for the rest of the ribbons as explained in step 7.
Step 9
Now click on the green ribbon layer and go to Layer > Layer style > Blending options and use the given settings.
Step 10
Right click on the green ribbon layer and select the option of ‘copy layer style’ and then right click on the rest of the ribbons layers and choose ‘paste layer style’ to apply the same effects on the rest of the ribbons. That’s it! We are all done with our text effect.
